01 — In short
How should an ice hockey jersey fit?
A hockey jersey is cut much wider than a normal shirt because it goes over shoulder and elbow pads. The body usually reaches the top of the hockey pants and the sleeves end at the glove cuff. Goalies need a larger goalie cut.
02 — Full spec
The typical spec.
Every line is checked with you and written on your spec sheet before a sample is made. Change anything to suit your design, market and budget.

03 — Choosing the fabric
Match fabrics compared.
The fabric decides how a kit feels, breathes and takes a print. These are the knits used most for team kits.
| Fabric | Typical weight | What it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Polyester interlock | 130–170 GSM | Smooth face. The best surface for sharp sublimation. |
| Birdseye mesh | 120–160 GSM | Small holes for airflow. A classic football shirt fabric. |
| Dazzle | 140–180 GSM | Shiny, tight knit. Typical for basketball and US sports. |
| Air-knit mesh | 180–240 GSM | Heavier, open knit. Used for ice hockey jerseys. |
| Polyester–elastane | 180–260 GSM | Stretch for fitted cuts: rugby, volleyball, handball. |
These are polyester or polyester blends, so they can be sublimated edge to edge.

European Union
Fibre names and percentages on the label under Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011. Care symbols to ISO 3758 are standard. REACH limits certain substances in textiles, such as some azo dyes.
United Kingdom
Fibre composition labels under the Textile Products (Labelling and Fibre Composition) Regulations 2012, plus care symbols.
United States
Fibre content, country of origin ("Made in Pakistan") and your RN number or company name under the FTC textile rules, and care instructions under the FTC Care Labeling Rule.
Kids' sizes
Drawstrings in children's clothing follow EN 14682 in Europe. In the US, children's products need CPSIA tracking labels, and hood drawstrings on children's upper outerwear are treated as a hazard (16 CFR 1120).
League rules
Leagues and governing bodies set their own kit rules, such as number sizes, colours and sponsor areas. Send your league rules with your enquiry and they go on your spec sheet.
07 — How ordering works
Brief, sample, then bulk.
Send your logo, colours, sizes and quantity for the ice hockey jersey. You get a written spec and quote, approve a sample, then your order is made, checked and packed under your label. Minimums and dates are confirmed in your quote.
What is a fight strap?
A strap inside the back of the jersey that fastens to the hockey pants so the jersey stays in place. Some leagues require it.
What size should goalies order?
Goalie jerseys use a larger goalie cut to fit over the chest protector. List goalies separately on your size list.
Can you make practice jerseys?
Yes. Practice jerseys are usually single colour and lighter, and can be reversible.
