Test the fabric in movement
A relaxed swatch can look fully covered but behave differently when stretched. Review the garment through its intended movements in the chosen colour and size.
For activewear where fit and freedom of movement need to work together. Assess the fabric under stretch, with the intended seams and waistband, before approving the range.

Nylon–elastane combines nylon, also called polyamide, with an elastic fibre. It is a fabric family used for close-fitting activewear such as leggings, bras and fitted layers. The blend percentage alone does not establish support, opacity or recovery; these should be checked on the chosen construction and garment sample.
These are starting points for fabric selection. The chosen quality is approved for the specific garment.
Assess coverage at the hips and knees in the intended fit.
Approve fabric alongside the lining, elastic and support construction.
Choose a suitable stretch base for selected fitted jacket styles.
GSM is fabric mass per square metre. It helps compare weight, but does not alone establish quality, coverage or performance.

Fabric power is only one part of a bra or fitted legging. Pattern, elastic, lining and seams contribute to the result; approve them together instead of relying on an elastane percentage.
Review inside seams, labels, zip guards and waistband edges against the skin. A smooth fabric will not compensate for a rough seam or an uncomfortable trim.
Artwork and fabric should be approved together. Explore our decoration services for the wider process.
Select a print or transfer that follows garment extension and returns cleanly after movement.
Position labels and badges where they do not restrict a stretch panel or create skin irritation.
Nylon and elastane require a process suited to the selected quality. Approve the decoration trial before production.
Follow the finished garment label and the selected finish instructions. Protect elastane-containing pieces from unnecessary heat and rough handling. Dry and store them as directed rather than leaving damp garments tightly bundled.
For sample review, assess stretch recovery, coverage, hand and decoration after laundering. Any claim about compression, chlorine resistance, UV protection or moisture performance needs its own agreed evidence for the selected fabric.
Practical answers for choosing, decorating and caring for the fabric in your garment range.
It is used for leggings, bike shorts, bras and fitted activewear. The chosen knit, weight, finish and recovery should match the garment rather than being selected from the blend name alone.
Nylon is a type of polyamide. Confirm the fibre naming and percentages for the intended sales market on the final garment label, using the approved fabric composition.
No. A higher percentage is not a complete quality measure. The yarn, knit, weight, pattern and finishing affect coverage and recovery. Compare complete samples at the intended fit.
Not automatically. Coverage depends on the fabric, colour, stretch and garment fit. Assess a sample through the intended movement and agree the required opacity before approving bulk.
Yes, but support is a garment-level decision. Review lining, elastic, straps, pattern and fabric together, and assess the sample for the intended activity.
Yes, with a process compatible with the selected nylon base and its stretch. Test adhesion, heat response and how the logo looks when the garment is extended and washed.
Do not assume so. A print method developed for polyester is not automatically suitable for nylon. Discuss a compatible route and approve a trial on the actual fabric.
It may feel supportive, but a specific compression level cannot be inferred from the blend. Pattern reduction, fabric power and garment testing need to be considered if a claim is required.
Use the care label, avoid unnecessary heat and protect the fabric from abrasion. Check the instructions for any special finish and decoration before choosing detergents, drying or ironing methods.
Send the garment style, activity, fit, colours, size range, artwork, quantity and any coverage or recovery target. A reference garment is useful for communicating the hand and support you want.
Send the design, intended fit, colours, artwork, size range and quantity. If you have a reference garment, use it to communicate the hand and finish you want. We discuss the fabric, make the sample and record the approved construction before bulk production.
Review dimensions, shade, decoration and the care result together. Keep the signed-off sample and written specification as the reference for the order.
