Choose the construction around use
For a bag, describe what it will carry and how often it will be reused. For an apron, describe the working position, pocket needs and laundering. These details help select more than a fabric weight.
For a tote that holds its shape or an apron with the right amount of body. The fabric is one part of the product: handles, seams, pockets and finishing complete the specification.

Cotton canvas is a woven cotton fabric commonly associated with a firm plain-weave construction. It is used for tote bags, aprons and selected jackets or workwear. The intended load, garment cut, weight and finish guide the choice; a canvas name does not establish waterproofing or a load rating.
These are starting points for fabric selection. The chosen quality is approved for the specific garment.
Select the body together with handles, pockets, gussets and branding.
Consider canvas for suitable work-jacket or trouser styles; protective claims are separate.
Discuss selected cotton jacket designs when a woven canvas hand fits the brief.
GSM is fabric mass per square metre. It helps compare weight, but does not alone establish quality, coverage or performance.
For a bag, describe what it will carry and how often it will be reused. For an apron, describe the working position, pocket needs and laundering. These details help select more than a fabric weight.
Handles, pocket corners and closures can govern product performance. Review reinforcement and a suitable use assessment on the finished sample rather than treating a heavy cloth as a load guarantee.
An off-white reference image does not establish an undyed, organic or certified material. Confirm the chosen shade, fibre specification and any required documentation for the order.
Artwork and fabric should be approved together. Explore our decoration services for the wider process.
A useful route for tote and apron artwork. Approve ink coverage and small detail on the chosen woven surface.
Review stitch definition, backing and placement around handles, pockets and seams.
A sewn brand label can complete a tote or apron; agree its position, fold and attachment method.
Follow the finished product care label. Canvas items may include printed artwork, linings, coatings or trims that change the cleaning method. Spot cleaning is appropriate only when the product instructions permit it.
If laundering is part of the brief, approve a washed sample for dimensions, handle length, surface appearance and print condition. Natural-looking cotton is not automatically pre-shrunk, stain-resistant or waterproof.
Practical answers for choosing, decorating and caring for the fabric in your garment range.
Yes, a suitable canvas can provide useful body for a tote. The finished result also depends on the seams, handles, gusset and closures, so approve a complete bag sample.
Not by default. Water resistance depends on a specified coating or finish and its performance. If the product needs a water-related claim, agree the requirement and verification before approval.
Only when the finished item care label allows it. A printed tote, coated apron or lined bag can need a different treatment from an undecorated fabric swatch.
It can change size when washed and dried. For washable products, check the complete sample, including handle length and lining, through the intended care cycle.
Cotton canvas can crease. Weight, finishing and use affect the result. Smooth or reshape it after cleaning and iron only if the label permits, protecting any artwork and trims.
Follow the product label, treat marks with a compatible method and dry as directed. Avoid assuming that vigorous scrubbing or hot washing is suitable for the print, coating or dyed surface.
Start with the intended product, use and desired body. Compare swatches and finished samples; a higher weight does not by itself guarantee a stronger bag or a more comfortable apron.
Yes, with a suitable print process and artwork. Review coverage and small details on the actual weave, then assess the decorated sample under the proposed cleaning method.
